FIRST PERSON
 Harold "Scotty" Scott's open-cockpit Waco leaving Beaver Lake Lodge - 1930s |
Adirondack sports people always looked forward to trout and white-tail deer hunting season. Beaver Lake Lodge was a favorite destination.
Tradition dictated a pot of good coffee was always on the back burner to welcome back old returning, as well as, new guests.
Visitants were particularly fond of the way their food was prepared. Standard-fare recipes were not followed.
Beaver Lake Lodge, Adirondack Mountains - 1930s |
Instead, traditional meals were transformed into dishes that keep some sports coming back year after year just for the fresh mountain air and the meals.
The Adirondack Cookbook contains many of those same kinds of recopies. They range from the practical down home cooking to humorous delights. The unique drawings alone make this book a great conversation piece on a kitchen shelf.
